TPC Explosion Damage and Injuries
Around 1 a.m. an explosion occurred and ignited a fire throughout the community of Port Neches. Port Neches is about ninety miles east of Houston, Texas. Three TPC workers at the site were injured. One of the workers was life flighted to a hospital with serious burns. A second worker was treated for a broken arm, and the third worker was released from the hospital with minor injuries.
Residents within a half-mile of the plant were ordered to evacuate their homes. People living near the blast have reported serious damage to their homes from the explosion. Windows have been broken, doors blown open, door knobs and other fixtures have shot across rooms as projectiles.
Known carcinogens are at the plant such as Butadiene. In addition to breathing in carcinogens, those close to the plant could be affected by soot in the air. The smoke and soot may make it difficult for those with asthma or other lung conditions to breathe.
When catastrophies occur, sometimes companies reponsible for the injuries and property damage reach out to those impacted and attempt to settle the claims quickly. Companies do this in order to reduce the amount of money they have to pay because claimants often will settle for less than what their claim is worth if they do not have an attorney. Speak to an attorney before accepting money or signing a document with TPC.
